O júri do Game Critics Awards é composto por 40 veículos de todo o mundo que jogam, com algumas semanas de antecedência, os títulos a serem mostrados na E3. A lista de indicados leva em conta apenas jogos que podiam ser testados na feira e, portanto, foram desconsiderados games como Death Stranding, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Prey, Destiny: "Rise of Iron", o novo God of War e o game do Homem-Aranha do PlayStation 4.
